When using OneNote for Mac version, MacBook Pro crashed. After rebooting MacBookPro, it reported Microsoft OneNote had caused the crash. Then every time when i open OneNote, app crashed immediately.
Reinstalling OneNote Mac app via Appstore or clearing caches, does not fix the issue. OneNote keeps crashing on start.
Solution:-
1. Delete the following folders on your Mac.
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac
~/Library/Group/Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office
2. On your Mac OS X, open “Keychain Access” app and search for “MicrosoftOffice”. If OneNote app recognized that you signed in, you’ll have entry with long name. Delete it.
3. Restart your Mac computer.
4. Then try to launch OneNote app and signing in again.

OneNote is a pre-installed Windows application developed by Microsoft. It’s like a virtual notebook that allows organizing events, creating “To Do” lists, and taking notes. The latest OneNote version that is applicable with Windows 10, Mac OS, and latest mobile devices has been supplemented with writing and drawing features. UPDATE 5/9/2019 Outlook for Mac has been working closely with the OneNote for Mac team to move to the new OneNote add-in that is based on the Office add-ins framework. Over this quarter, this add-in will roll out to customers in Production! This feature will allow you to send your mails and meetings.

  • The Mac App Store shows nearly 7000 5-star reviews of OneNote for Mac, but here it garners only 3 stars, and from only 27 users. To me, this appears to be more about disliking Microsoft than accepting that Microsoft has made a gigantic step toward embracing Mac users with all their latest products, especially Office 2016 for Mac.
