  2. RE: Charging System Fault You may need to have the Battery Management System reset. Mini Countryman has gone as of 12 June 2020 and there is now a New Defender 110 First Edition sitting on my drive alongside my 1996 Defender 90 TDi300.

Mar 21, 2020. If there is a fault with the system, it will stay on and the instrument panel will show a warning message. The vehicle can still be driven, but DSC won’t be operating. As this is an important safety system, contact your Land Rover dealer as soon as possible.

Alternator Charge

The alternator used is a Valeo part nr: 2541694 Land Rover P/N: STC2227

I had a 'Gremlin' with my P38. 'Alternator Fault' was shown in the binnacle and after a throttle blip it disappeared. Them, the behaviour changed. Alternator and engine oil binnacle light were off

Alternator and starter were fully refurbished and this behaviour remains.
at ignition on. Starter won't work. After a few seconds, the alternator and engine oil lid and only them the starter worked.
I will try a more scientific approach this time, to pinpoint the problem as shown here: Sticky: Electrical Troubleshooting Updated 2010

Problem ended up to be the ground cable terminals at chassis and engine block. After solder the terminals and cleaning them, problem was solved.
This was back in 2013, now in 2015, I began to have and intermittent alternator fault warning, until it became permanent and stop charging the battery and letting me hanged half way home.
This time the culpitt is the refurbished alternator. More precisely this:
Valeo Part nr: 592849 Overvoltage Protector D+ terminal block

The D+ terminal was broken off when removed back in 2013, I asked for a new part at the alternator specialist shop but the kind old man glued and soldered the pin, and asked me not tight the nut too much. Well, it lasted 2 years, fortunately it broke after my vacation trip.
